Who we are
who we are.
Our story began more than sixteen years ago in a freezing garage, where our two founders, childhood friends, built the first units by hand with equal parts grit and curiosity. That hands-on spirit still drives us today. From those early days, we’ve grown into a modern manufacturer with deep roots in craftsmanship. We design and build on a single 6-hectare manufacturing campus in Estonia, pairing precise engineering with honest, long-lasting materials. Every detail matters: clean lines, smart assembly, efficient heating, and a bathing experience that feels restorative day after day.
We respect tradition while designing for today. We build with Nordic wood, tempered glass, and durable components, and we test our saunas the way they’re meant to be used – out in real weather, with real steam, and real people. The result is reliable performance, simple maintenance, and timeless aesthetics that fit homes, cabins, spas, and hospitality projects.
At heart, we build for real life: for cold-weather recovery, long summer evenings, and unhurried time with people you care about. In a noisy world, our saunas invite a conscious pause, a moment to be present, where heat, wood, and leil reconnect you with nature and yourself. Deep rest isn’t a luxury; it’s a universal need. And if a product doesn’t serve that feeling, it doesn’t leave our factory.

Not just another sauna manufacturer
We design and manufacture every sauna in Võnnu, a small town in Southern Estonia, shaped by centuries of sauna culture. Our production blends advanced technology with this deep-rooted heritage, continuing the story of sauna from its historical birthplace.
Consistency and reliability are core to how we work. Our production capacity exceeds 250 saunas per month, supported by a global network of partners – more than fifty resellers in over thirty five countries, who help us deliver on time and stand behind every installation.

Recognized worldwide.
Our design comes from the Nordics at heart: clear lines, natural materials, and details that work every day. We build for real life, then test with real people, and keep improving based on their feedback. That mindset has earned recognition from international juries and from the people who use our saunas daily. In 2024 we received Red Dot: Best of the Best design award, which reflects both design quality and practical performance. Partners choose us because our saunas look modern, hold up to heavy use, and are straightforward to install and maintain.
Good design should feel easy, yet timeless.
Ours is made to stay that way.

The story behind our name
leil (Estonian, n.)
the steam that rises when water meets hot stones in a sauna. It’s the word at the heart of how we build and the culture we come from.
For centuries, the sauna has been a sacred place for the people of the North. Leil is at the heart of this experience.
What is Leil?general faq.
You ask. We answer.
What type of wood do you use in manufacturing, and why is thermally treated wood good?
We use Lunawood ThermoWood® (thermally modified pine) for the sauna exterior, while benches are made from aspen and alder. Thermally treated wood is ideal for saunas as it’s resistant to water and humidity, doesn’t swell or shrink, won’t warp or twist like untreated wood, and doesn’t leak resin.
Are your products suitable for year-round use?
Yes, our saunas can be used year-round, enduring cold winters and hot summers. We use 40mm or 70mm thick thermally treated wood, roofing with shingles or EPDM rubber to ensure moisture resistance. We also recommend applying an external UV-protective varnish treatment which ensures long-lasting durability.
Does the standard sauna kit include a heater?
A standard kit includes the sauna only. Optional LED lighting and a heater packages are available as add-ons.*
*Depending on the country.
How do I choose the right sauna heater?
Choose based on the desired experience: a wood-burning heater offers authenticity with live fire, crackling logs, and aroma. An electric heater offers convenience, enabling remote activation via smartphone.
Can products be customized (custom solutions)?
Yes, customization is possible, but it involves additional waiting time for designing and manufacturing. Typically, a custom order takes a minimum of 2-3 months.
Are your products certified and compliant with European standards?
Yes, all materials we use are certified and compliant with EU standards.
How do you differentiate between basic/elegant/premium saunas?
Our saunas differ primarily by price range. Our goal is to provide an ideal sauna experience for every customer.
Are sauna components painted at the factory?
DIY (self-assembly) sauna components are partially factory-painted, requiring final finishing during installation. Fully assembled saunas are factory-painted and finished.
